The RSS Feed Icon
My Wordpress theme is nearly finished. Notice I said nearly
I have spent some time looking for a psd file of the rss icon so that I can match it to the feel of the theme.
I finally found a site called FeedIcons.com, which not only supply you with feed icons in .psd format, they also provide you with a whole developers pack, which I am just about to get started with.
It seems as well that there are guidelines relating to how the rss feed icon should be displayed. I have looked at many wordpress themes over the last few weeks and it seems that many of them are not following these guidelines. You can read these guidelines on the feedicons site using this link.
Should they be enforced?
I think not as from my understanding the whole point of web 2.0 is that it is us who make the internet by interacting with it. So from my point of view I think the feed icon should have the actual rss sign on it (what has been officially adopted as the sign that is) so that people will recognise it, but that ‘we’ as in graphics and design people may interpret it our own way in our own style.
What do you think? As always post your comments below or write about it on your own blog and link back here with a trackback.
