Where Has BlogRush.com Gone?

I just noticed today that my blogrush.com widget was blank. I looked up their site and lo and behold it is blank too.

Sure enough when I did a search on Google they had a cached page, thankfully, saying that they were shutting down because of various issues including security risks andnot being able to patrol the quality of the sites. The page was cached on 6 Dec 2008, soless than a week ago, but no idea how long the page was up for saying that they were going to shut down.

I would of thought the least they could do was to send an e-mail to all members letting them know. I mean how often do you go and look at websites that you have widgets for. What if an advertiser was to do this to you with no warning. I think there would be a lot of flung mud.

If you want more info about it you can read what John Reese had to say on his blog, here. His post is dated the end of October, shows how much attention I paid to my own sidebar … lol

A guy named Manuel Viloria also wrote an interesting post about it, here.

Anyway, they are closed, so I want to replace my widget with another. I was thinking of blogcatalog.com, what do you think? What ‘community’ widgets do you have on your blogs? Let me know by posting a comment below.

Free Tool For Organising Your Instant Messaging And Free E-Mail Accounts

I just read about this great little tool that lets you not only speak to all your instant messaging contacts from all the providers; Yahoo, AIM, MSN etc…, but also let’s you check your e-mail from all the free providers too; Hotmal, Yahoo, GMail etc…

Ypu can also keep an eye on your social networking sites like facebook and twitter. This is a real bonus.

I don’t know about you guys, but things that save me time and not having to have to many windows open at once I love :)

You can get all the details at Digsby.com.

They also have a great widget that you can add to your bog su you can chat with your vistors. Mine will be up and running here next week probably as have not had the time to install it yet. My laptop died on Saturday morning and I have spent too long deciding on what laptop to buy. I needed one with XP on and not Vista, as I know most of the applications I use will not work on Vista, and that was also a headache and a half. If you have the same problem, call Dell and save yourself the headache. You can order direct from them with XP as default and they deliver in about a week.

Try Digsby out and let me know what you think.
