Getting Started
When signing up for your free Keyword Domination report over at IMMembership.com, Lee wanted to know how to get started for free earning some money before he invested in other tools to make it big.
This is a very interesting question, which is why I chose to cover it first.
First and foremost you need to take action. You can only make something if you put something in. There is a saying that you need money to make money, but in the case of online marketing this is slightly different. If you have little or no money to start off you need to make more of an effort and will see less return, but as your returns/profits come in you can invest this in your online business, work less and create more profits.
So, how do I get started for free?
Follow the 9 easy steps to keyword domination laid out in the report at IMMembership.com, but instead of buying a domain and getting hosting you would use web space on someone else’s site.
There are lots of websites that will let you create your own site within their site. These sites rank highly, so if you build your links as you would with a site you owned you should be able to rank highly for your keywords.
Here is a list of just some of the sites available to you (there are loads more, just do a google search for free web space and free websites) …
I hope you found this post helpful. Please let me know your thoughts by posting a comment.

Free Back Links For Your Website
Is it possible to get free back links for your website? Of course you can, if you know where to get them …
Firstly, why do you need backlinks? Obtaining links from other websites back to your website is a very important part of SEO (search engine optimization). It is part of what is called offpage SEO. It is called offpage because it is not on any of the pages of your website
These links help your SERPS (search engine ranking positions) for your chosen keywords.
Google ranks websites according to these links, which they see as popularity. In their efforts to be the ‘people’s search engine’ they need to have some way of ranking sites. Other people linking to you means to Google that they found something interesting on your site, so others may too. When someone does a search Google looks at all the pages and ranks them in order of relevancy and links (including the Page Rank of the referring page) with the searchterm/keyword in the anchor text.
This is not always true as we know, because we can build backlinks to ourselves. We can in a way trick the search engines into thinking our website(s) is more popular than it is. Getting lots of backlinks is not enough though. You need to think about it before you do it. It should be natural, at least natural looking
Link spamming is very tempting, but can get your site sandboxed or even de-indexed, which is bad.
One good way to get some free incoming links is through social bookmarking. I use Social Marker, because it has all of the sites in one place so I don’t miss anything. It also provides you with the title, description and tags handy so no need to flip between windows.
Remember before I sais it should look natural … well if you vary slightly your title, description and tags instead of them all being the same, it will look more natural. You should also not create all the bookmarks in one go.
Another tip is to ask family/a friend/a co-worker to bookmark your site(s) too and offer to do theirs in return. More back links, more naturally.
There are lots of other ways to create free backlinks like writing articles and link swapping. The most important thing is to keep it natural. I cannot stress this enough, if you want long term success, slowly and surely wins the race every time
If you are wondering how many links back to your website you currently have, you can check out this free site … http://www.backlinkwatch.com/. They give you the anchor text too, so you can see which keywords you need to add.

How To Avoid The Duplicate Content Penalty On Your Own Website
I never knew that it was possible to get penalized for having duplcate content on your own website, but I have been told by SEO experts that you can. Not only that, but because the search engine spiders/bots are not human (obviously), they cannot tell the difference between www.yoursite.com and yoursite.com. They can and do index pages from your site twice, one with the www and one without.
I read all about it here at webmarketingnow.com, so you can check out the original article and the fix for it. The fix is very simple and just needs you to add a few lines of code to your .htaccess file.
The article was also very funny as it explained how stupid the bots can be. First indexing the same page from the same website twice without realising it and then penalizing that website because it has duplicate content on it.
I do not know if this will work in wordpress, but it doesn’t really matter as f course there is a plugin for it
The plugin is called Permalink Redirect and you can download it directly here from scott.yang.id.au. This pugin replies a 301 permanent redirect, if the requested ur is different from the entry’s (or archive’s) permalink, as was set by you. It is ensures that only one url is associated with each blog entry and therefore cannot be indexed twice.
It is definitely compatible with wordpress 2.5.1 (the latest version) as I am using it here on my site.
I learnt something new today, hope you did too.
If you know any little SEO fixes like this, please post them below for everyone to benefit.
