Important Google Adsense Changes
If you are a part of google adsense you should have received an e-mail today about changes to adsense that need to be reflected in your privacy policy.
They are calling it Interest-based advertising and this is what the e-mail said about it …
Interest-based advertising will allow advertisers to display ads based on a user’s previous interactions with them, such as visits to advertiser website and also to reach users based on their interests (e.g. “sports enthusiast”). To develop interest categories, we will recognise the types of web pages that users visit throughout the Google content network. As an example, if they visit a number of sports pages, we will add them to the “sports enthusiast” interest category. To learn more about your associated account settings, please visit the AdSense Help Centre.
It should help with your adverts being more targetted to the specific searcher, which can’t be a bad thing, but it does sound a bit like behavioral targetting, which I am not sure I 100% agree with.
The e-mail also says that you must update your privacy policy to reflect the use of this new advertising but the 8th April 2009. This does not give people a lot of time (under 4 weeks), especially if they have 100 sites or more. Google also say in the e-mail that because of different laws over the world they cannot help you with the wording of the privacy policy, making it even harder to ensure you have it right.
If you know what a privacy policy should say about this, please leave a comment for others below
I personally do not use adsense on any of my sites at the moment as I am seeing higher returns from affiliate marketing. In my testing I found that the less options, the better the conversions on what you want them to do, but you should be testing this on your own sites.
Regardless, you should still have at least a privacy policy. A terms of use or a terms and conditions is also a good idea. Saying that, I need to get mine up .. lol
Have a good weekend and we’ll catch up next week.

MFA Sites - What Do You Think?
MFA stands for made for adsense.
It seems that there is some money to be made with these types of sites if you target high paying keywords. High paying adsense keywords are the ones that people pay a lot for in adwords, like insurance.
As A Visitor …
I think that if a site is nicely pesented and offers the visitor something of value, like articles or the product they are looking for for sale, then it is ok.
I think that if a site has nothing on it except scraped content and adsense ads is not ok.

I want my sites to go the distance, if you like. I want them to be there offering people value when there is not much else.
When was the last time you searched for information online and found it first time? I can tell you it has been a long while for me.
I just saw a sale for 2 so called adsense sites and 2 so called adsense portals. They were very cheaply priced, under $0.10, but they were exactly the same 2 sites just in two, very slightly, different templates. Now these 2 niches were very highly competitive and it is unlikely that you would get anywhere near the first page with either of the copies of the sites. BUT, what if the sites were in small niches? You could get to the first page by link building etc… but would you actually be offering anything of value?
Something to think about …
As a marketer online I know what the adsense ads are and don’t click them, but most of the world doesn’t know what they are and they click. Does this mean that it is right to ’spam’ them with MFA sites?

Get Rich Flipping Websites
Is it true? ………. Yes
You can get rich flipping websites.
Take a look at my current auction
My last auction sold for $140 and took me about two days to put together. This one took less time and I am testing a new strategy, so reduced the price a little to see what happens. I have also only done rss promotion for it.
Take a look around the marketplace at the SitePoint forum to see what else is on offer. Some sites are very basic and are selling for big money.
Do you have some PLR (Private Label Rights) stuff floating round on your harddrive? Think about loading it into a template and selling it on. Face it any profit is better than it sitting round gethering digital dust. AND if you re-write the PLR it is then unique and worth a lot more.
You may not get rich flipping websites overnight, but $300 a week is totally achieveable. I bet it is more than you are earning online at the moment.
It has taken me a long while to get all the components ‘down pat’, but now that I have I have been thinking about releasing a product that will enable you to churn out professional websites like this one for quick and easy flipping, would you be interested?
Let me know by leaving your thoughts below.
