Twitter Time Consuming Madness

Twitter has been driving me mad for months. Apart from wanting to integrate it nicely into my new theme, that I fear will never be finished, I never seem to be able to catch up on missing tweets.

You go away from the computer and when you come back spend too much time sifting through pages and pages of nothing since your last tweet to see if you have been replied to or if there is anything of interest.

So I finally got around to testing out a few of the ‘twitter helpers’ today after deciding that doing it from my browser was just impossible and too time consuming.

I could go through them all, but it would just waste your time and mine, so … the winner, hands down is TweetDeck.

You can see all new tweets that come in, you can delete them when you have read them, have your replies and direct messages in separate sections and even create groups which is the best bit for me.

I have to say I was a bit astounded to see the actual number of messages that had come in in the two hours it took me to get the kids supper ready and feed them and play the wii a bit before bed, over 500. I realised that I couldn’t possible read all of them, so started to unfollow people not relevant to what I am interested in.

I also discovered a cool thingy called TwitterSheep, where you enter your twitter username and it creates a tag cloud based on the bios of the people following you. VERY interesting.
